Fans eagerly waited for it, and Apple has finally delivered. The iPhone 6 is here, introducing several improvements and a couple of features over its predecessor.
As rumored, the new iPhone 6 sports a larger Retina HD display at 4.7 inches diagonal, up from the 4-inch screen of the iPhone 5S. While bigger, it manages to become even thinner at 6.9mm—it’s the thinnest Apple device so far. Internal hardware have also seen its fair share of upgrades: the processor is now an A8 chip that’s 13 percent smaller and 25 percent faster than the A7, the new M8 motion co-processor is capable of detecting new types of movement, and the graphics chip is now 50 percent faster.
The main camera retains its 8-megapixel resolution, choosing to improve in other aspects instead. With the new “Focus Pixels” sensor, the iSight camera can focus even faster. It can now record up to 60fps for 1080p videos and 240fps on slow motion. The front shooter, which Apple calls the FaceTime HD camera, is now capable of receiving 80 percent more light, comes equipped with a larger F/2.2 aperture, and includes new features such as burst mode and HDR video.

Alongside the iPhone 6, Apple has also unveiled the larger iPhone 6 Plus smartphone and the new Apple Watch. The latter is a wearable device that only works with an iPhone.
The iPhone 6 will have three color configurations: gold, silver, and space gray. Price varies according to storage: $199 for 16GB, $299 for 64GB, and $299 for 128GB. All three come with a two-year contract. Naturally, the prices (for both subsidized and unlocked models) in the Philippines will be different when it arrives, which is sometime before the year ends.
