The Zenfone 2 is probably one of the Philippines’ most hotly anticipated devices because it brings some of the best value you can get on a smartphone. While the official regional launch isn’t going to be until April 21, you can now actually get it through Lazada. However, here’s why you shouldn’t.

First, it’s overpriced. The ZE550ML variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage sells for Php10,999 while the ZE551ML variant with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage is priced at Php15,999. Although ASUS Philippines hasn’t officially announced anything about pricing, it’s been reported that the Zenfone 2 will be priced better than what’s on Lazada right now.

Second, you’re not going to get any kind of warranty. Zero. It says so right on Lazada’s product listing. These are gray market units after all that were imported by an unofficial seller.

Third, it’s going to get here eventually. Why pay a premium just to get it first and not have any warranty at that? The main reason I would buy a gray market unit is to save at the cost of warranty. But to pay more AND not have any kind of warranty? Yeah, no thanks.

  1. Actually it is sold under a different merchant and not directly sold by Lazada. How could you say that Lazada is taking advantage?

  2. i think lazada will remove their advertisement on ur blog coz u hold prospect buyers off from buying the zenfone 2 on their shop. :D
