Rumor has it that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 won’t have the 100x camera zoom feature first found in the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Good riddance?

Per tipster Ice Universe’s tweets, the upcoming Note 20 will no longer have the 100x Space Zoom feature, even though the phone will still use the same 108-megaixel ISOCELL Bright HM1 sensor of the S20 Ultra along with a new sensor to aid in the autofocus.

What seemed to be a mere marketing ploy, the S20 Ultra’s 100x zoom is a hybrid digital zoom that makes use of the phone’s telephoto lenses, 4x optical zoom and cropping.

While it sounds impressive on paper, this feature barely produces any usable pictures unless you find shots that look like oily paintings somehow appealing.

We won’t be able to confirm whether the Note 20 will really let go of this controversial zoom capability until the phone’s livestream launch event later this year.
