Samsung has unintentionally leaked its upcoming Fan Edition (FE) devices, which include a smartphone, tablet, and earbuds. The leaks were spotted on Samsung’s Argentinian website, where images of the Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE, and Galaxy Buds FE were found.

Although no specifications were mentioned, the leaked images indicate that these devices will be part of Samsung’s Fan Edition lineup, which offers solid features at a more affordable price compared to their flagship models.

While it is unclear whether the leaks were intentional or accidental, it is worth noting that major technology companies often try to generate buzz with pre-announcement teasers. Regardless, the leaks have generated excitement among consumers who are looking forward to the new FE devices.

Samsung‘s increased focus on the Fan Edition lineup raises concerns regarding the company’s strategy. While the Galaxy S20 FE was well-received as an affordable premium phone during the global health crisis, the introduction of multiple Fan Edition devices without significant technological advancements may be seen as a way to increase shipment numbers rather than offering new value to customers.

The use of last generation’s internals in new devices raises questions about sustainability and the environmental footprint. Millions of units with outdated hardware require enormous amounts of energy and resources to manufacture, package, and ship. This approach seems contradictory to Samsung’s goal of becoming more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
