DITO Telecommunity announced that, as of October 2024, they already have 13 million across the Philippines.

Eric Alberto, DITO Chief Executive Officer, said the new figure means that the third telco player now owns 12 percent of the market share. The CEO also said they aim to be profitable in the coming years.

Alberto made the announcement in an event that celebrates them having passed the fifth and final technical audit. DITO passed the audit for meeting the nationwide coverage and minimum average data speed required by the government.

The series of independent audits was one of the conditions when they were granted the Certificate of Convenience and Necessity in 2019.

“These results clearly reflect DITO’s commitment to meeting and exceeding regulatory requirements while contributing meaningfully to the development of digital infrastructure in the Philippines,” said Commissioner Ella Blanca Lopez of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

Alberto expressed how their entry broke the duopoly of Smart and Globe and has improved the overall telco services in the Philippines and made them cheaper.

The CEO also said that they are optimistic they can break even their EBITDA by the end of 2025 and be profitable in a couple of years’ time.

DITO assured people that, even after passing the final technical audit, they will continue to work to expand their reach and improve their speed.
