Ookla’s Speedtest Intelligence report for the first quarter of 2023 is in.
PLDT-owned Smart Communications continue to dominate in terms of speed as it was able to record median downloads of 33.39Mbps. Meanwhile, its top competitor, Globe Telecom, is in second place with 22.29Mbps and DITO Telecommunity at 18.63Mbps.
However, Globe Telecom was able to snatch the crown for the consistency category with a score of 83.4% with at least 5Mbps minimum downloads and at least 1Mbps uploads. Smart is a close second with 81.5% and DITO at 75.1%.
Last quarter’s rankings are similar to the previous one. In a similar report released in January, Smart was number one in terms of speed with median downloads of 32.16Mbps, followed by Globe (12.30Mbps) and DITO (17.66Mbps).
Globe also dominated the consistency category at 83.1%, followed by Smart (80.8%) and DITO (72.6%).
Other than the mobile networks, Ookla also tested major smartphone brands to see which offers the fastest download speeds. With that, Apple topped the list with 47.99Mbps, followed by Samsung at 31.8Mbps, Xiaomi at 28.59Mbps, Huawei at 18.75Mbps, and Infinix at 17.19Mbps.
