pldt surrender cure

PLDT has finally surrendered one of the frequencies that it holds to the PH government.

As we previously talked about before, this move is made in preparation of the incoming major telco player in the Philippines. PLDT has formally returned the 10 megahertz (MHz) of 3G radio frequency, in accordance with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) directive.

The said frequency was previously assigned to Connectivity Unlimited Resource Enterprises Inc. (CURE). PLDT and CURE both agreed to give the frequency back at no cost.

Last month, President Rodrigo Duterte threatened PLDT to surrender the frequency for free, or else they would be placed in a rigorous tax audit.

According to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the reveal of the new major telco player in the Philippines could happen between the 4th week of May up to the first week of June 2018.
