We finally got our hands on the new Cherry Mobile Cubix CubeBook — the company’s online-exclusive, budget-friendly laptop.
When we first heard the Cherry Mobile Cubix CubeBook, we can’t quite comprehend how the company was able to come up with a full-fledged Windows 10 laptop for a dirt-cheap price tag of Php6,999. We took the liberty of getting it to check it out ourselves.
In fact, we even got it for over Php1,000 cheaper at only Php5,799 over at Lazada. The price usually fluctuates depending on the day and if there’s a sale going on, so we suggest to wait it out a little bit to get at a more affordable price.
The laptop was in a decent-sized box when it arrived. It has the image of the product in front with the CubeBook branding above the “Creativity x Productivity” tagline. At the back, it has a list of the essential features.
Inside we have the actual machine itself, held by two styrofoam on each side. At the far left, we have the proprietary adaptor for charging. We also have the user manual and a card that has the product key for the pre-installed Windows 10 OS (Not pictured. We don’t want someone stealing our Windows key.)
I already fell in love with the laptop’s design the minute I held it. The Cubix CubeBook has this MacBook-like aesthetics with the curved corners of the lid, the cutout at the bottom for opening the lid, and the thick bezels surrounding the keyboard.
Moreover, it’s also really thin and lightweight. You can easily lift it easily with one hand. This is probably the only advantage of utilizing plastic, instead of the aluminum construction found on higher-end laptops.
The initial setup was pretty easy when I first booted up the Cubix CubeBook. After everything was set, I did some casual web browsing via Google Chrome with Spotify playing in the background. Unsurprisingly, the machine handled those minor tasks well. We’ll try to test its limits during our full review process.
