The Philippine National Police’s Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) has introduced a new digital system intended to strengthen its efforts against car theft and road crimes.

The PNP Information Management System (IMS) is designed to create a single, nationwide database for vehicle information. This will allow officers across the country to instantly check if a car or motorcycle has been reported stolen. The system is also meant to make getting an HPG clearance quicker and more transparent for the public.

PNP-HPG acting director Colonel Hansel Marantan said the system shows how technology is changing public safety services for the better. He explained that the IMS will help different law enforcement agencies share data more effectively. This improved coordination is expected to help authorities track stolen vehicles and identify criminal groups operating on national roads.

Marantan described the system as a vital tool that will make police operations faster and more efficient. He added that the HPG is getting ready to roll out the technology across the entire Philippines.
