A new service promises to help companies across the Philippines harness the power of artificial intelligence. The offering is designed to allow businesses to use advanced AI tools without spending heavily on their own computer systems and hardware.

The project is a joint effort led by ePLDT, the data center arm of the PLDT Group. The company announced that it has partnered with two international technology leaders, Dell Technologies and Katonic AI, to create “Pilipinas AI.” This new platform is being introduced as the Philippines’ first sovereign AI.

This local solution aims to solve two major problems for businesses: the difficulty of setting up AI and the lack of available AI experts. The service provides a ready-made platform that companies can use immediately.

Pilipinas AI will run from ePLDT’s Vitro Sta. Rosa facility, which is the country’s first data center built to handle the intense demands of AI computing.

The companies involved see potential users in many fields. These include the banking and finance industry, healthcare providers, government services, academic institutions, and the business process outsourcing sector. The AI could be used for tasks like fraud detection, medical diagnostics, weather forecasting, and enhancing customer service.

To support this and other services, ePLDT runs 11 data centers located in different parts of the country, including Cebu, Clark, Davao, Makati, Paranaque, Pasig, Subic, and Taguig.
