Disney’s streaming service is now embracing the HDR10+ video format, giving subscribers with newer televisions a visual upgrade.

The initial selection of content is focused on titles from Hulu. Approximately 1,000 Hulu series and movies will be the first to use HDR10+. Programming from Disney’s own brands, such as Marvel and Pixar, is expected to follow, but the company has not yet announced when that will happen.

Take note that you will need specific devices to watch this improved content. At the start, the feature is available on Samsung’s Crystal UHD televisions and higher-end models released in 2018 or later. It will also work on certain Samsung computer monitors.

HDR10+ is designed to improve visual quality. It works by making adjustments to the brightness and color levels for each individual scene in a movie or show. This can make images appear more vibrant and true to life. It is kinda similar to another format called Dolby Vision. But to notice any differences, your screen must be capable of displaying HDR10+ content.

Disney+ is joining other services that already offer this feature. Most notably, Netflix began supporting HDR10+ in March of this year.
