Sony just released its PS5 figures for its recent fourth fiscal quarter, and it shows that the PS5 sales dropped by 46 percent year-over-year after only selling 1.5 million units (versus 2.8 million last year).

The Sony PS5 sales slump is caused by the recent price hike. In the Philippines, the console now costs Php40,032. That’s Php10,000 higher than its previous SRP.

Sony was forced to implement the price increase due to the ongoing memory crisis.

The company forecasts that the revenue of its gaming business will drop by 6 percent for the whole year. For the entire 2025, Sony’s gaming business made USD29.9 billion, which is actually higher than the year before (USD29.8 billion).

These terrible updates, as per Sony, will affect the development of its next console, possibly called the PlayStation 6.

Hopefully, the release of Grand Theft Auto VI later this year, which will be initially console-exclusive, will help lift these figures up.
