Xiaomi’s HQ finally released a statement regarding the Philippine official distributorship feud. In the past few weeks, two Facebook pages are claiming the official title. But as it turns out, there’s really no Xiaomi official distributor in the Philippines.
We have reported in May that Xiaomi was back in the Philippines after a long hiatus. The announcement was spearheaded when the Mi Home PH Facebook page was launched and started offering products in Lazada.
A few days after, an existing Mi Philippines Facebook page released a statement that opposes the former’s claim. The accuser, a company under the Grimalkin Corporation of Star Paper Corporation, said that they are “Xiaomi’s official and sole Philippine partner”.
Mi Philippines’ statement still brought up a lot of confusion for everyone regarding Xiaomi’s official arm in the country, despite not disclosing the official distributorship.
Hence, our friends at Yugatech reached out to Xiaomi Global via email to get the official word. A Xiaomi spokesperson obliged and finally provided a declaration:
Xiaomi currently does not have official distributors in the Philippines. All official announcements in the future will come directly from Xiaomi.
With that said, it is now clear that neither Mi Home PH and Mi Philippines are official Xiaomi distributors in the Philippines. Thus, no one can enjoy the perks of being an official distributor. Although, they have all the right to offer legitimate and authentic Xiaomi products.
