Slowly but surely, the OPPO Find series has proven itself as a flagship phone to be reckoned with. Now, with the OPPO Find X9 Ultra, the company proves that it has the expertise and technology to be at the top.
For its latest flagship, OPPO promises an extensive ecosystem of photography features, an extra-large battery, and a range of flagship features, including a powerful processor, incredible display, fast charging, and more.
The goal is to deliver one of the best photography experiences and top-notch flagship performance. For its hefty asking price of Php129,999, it better be.
In our OPPO Find X9 Ultra review, we’ll see if OPPO’s latest flagship is a triumph or a failure.

Design and Build Quality
The OPPO Find X9 Ultra is one of the most expensive smartphones you can get today, so OPPO made sure you’re immediately impressed when you first look at it and hold it in your hands.
Our review unit is the Tundra Umber colorway, which features vegan leather split in two by the same metallic material used for the frame.
It looks a lot like and seems to pay homage to some of Hasselblad’s first cameras, as well as modern ones. Also on the back is an enormous, circular camera island. Its sheer size is tolerable considering all the photography features it packs.
The camera island uses glass with a subtle heptagon shape and a metallic bezel with ridges and an orange band. All of these elements highlight the device’s flagship feature: its cameras.
A Canyon Orange colorway is also available, which literally looks like the walls of the Grand Canyon. Despite its vibrant color, it has a more relaxed appeal and a less intimidating look than the Tundra Umber.
OPPO didn’t skimp on durability, either. While there’s nothing too groundbreaking here—no ludicrous drop-test videos—it has the usual certifications you’d expect from a flagship phone.
It is IP66/IP68/IP69-rated for dust and water resistance and has received SGS 5-star certification. There’s also Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front, one of the toughest screen glasses out there.
In terms of comfort, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is one of the most feature-dense phones out there, so it’s no surprise that it’s quite large. The Tundra Umber is 9.10mm thick and weighs 236g, while the Canyon Orange is 8.65mm thick and weighs 235g.
That said, the device can feel thick and bulky, especially during prolonged use. But that’s something you should already expect and consider when deciding how you’ll use it.
Overall, we’re big fans of the distinct design, which is a good representation of the Find X9 Ultra’s true essence.
Taking a tour, there’s the large 6.82-inch AMOLED screen on the front, with a 50-megapixel selfie camera in a punch-hole cutout and ultra-thin bezels all around.
The left side has a button called Snap Key, which is similar to Apple’s Action Button. You can customize it to launch your chosen app or toggle features.
On the left, there are the flat volume controls and lock/power switch, which sit flush with the device’s frame. As expected, they are very tactile and clicky when pressed.
Below those buttons is the Quick Button. It quickly launches the camera and is pressure-sensitive for locking autofocus. It also registers swipes for zooming in. The button’s orange paint adds character to the device.
The top has the stereo speaker and noise-isolating microphone.
At the bottom, you’ll find the primary loudspeaker, microphone, USB-C port, and SIM tray, which houses two nano SIM cards.
On the back is the quad-camera setup. The one on top is the 50-megapixel 10x telephoto lens. On the right is the 200-megapixel main camera, while the one on the left is the 200-megapixel periscope-style lens.
The one at the bottom is the 50-megapixel ultra-wide. Between the main and ultra-wide cameras is the new True Color Camera sensor, while the dual-tone LUMO Portrait Flash is on the top left.
Display and Audio
The OPPO Find X9 Ultra features a 6.82-inch QHD+ LTPO AMOLED display with a sharp 3168 x 1440 pixel resolution, ~510ppi, 1440Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 300Hz touch sampling rate, 3,600-nit peak brightness, 1-nit ultra-low brightness, and support for Dolby Vision.
Display quality is really solid, as expected. The large size makes everything immersive, colors are vibrant yet accurate, and brightness can get very high for HDR content or outdoor use.
HDR, HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Atmos also work well, especially on top streaming platforms.
OPPO also nailed the audio department. The OPPO Find X9 Ultra has symmetrical stereo speakers that offer a large soundstage, loud volume, clear highs, and audible bass. Stereo separation is audible, too.
Hardware and Performance
Like many top-tier flagships, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This chip has 2x 4.6GHz Oryon V3 Phoenix L cores and 6x 3.62GHz Oryon V3 Phoenix M cores. It is paired with an Adreno 840 graphics, fast 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, and 512GB UFS 4.1 internal storage.

Day-to-day performance, as expected, is seamlessly fast. OPPO also said that its Luminous Rendering Engine improves “tap responsiveness in top apps” by 40% and “scrolling stability in third-party apps” by 52%. It’s hard to tell how accurate those figures are, but the device did feel incredibly fast and smooth.
The gaming experience was great, too. Genshin Impact had no problems under the High preset at 60 frames per second. PUBG Mobile was also seamless under HDR graphics with Extreme+ frames.
Call of Duty Mobile had no problems under Max graphics settings, while Farlight84 ran smoothly under HD graphics at 120 frames. Mobile Legends also ran seamlessly under the highest graphics settings, as did Asphalt Legends Unite.

Software and User Interface
The OPPO Find X9 Ultra comes with Android 16-based ColorOS 16 software. Since this is OPPO’s best smartphone to date, it gets the longest software support the company offers: five years of OS upgrades and six years of security patches. It’s not industry-leading, but still commendable.
We continue to be big fans of ColorOS 16. It looks modern, clean, organized, and intuitive. As with many third-party Android interfaces, it has transparency elements, which OPPO calls Liquid Glass UI.
The OPPO AI suite is packed with AI features you might need. There’s AI Search, AI Writer, AI Translate, and AI VoiceScribe for meetings.
OPPO also beefed up its Mind Space feature, which is best paired with the Snap Key button on the top left. It can instantly capture and organize text on the screen, images, and even voice memos. It then uses AI to capture any questions you may have.
The AI Bill Manager is a handy feature that lets you capture receipts, messages, or even voice notes and convert them into currencies so you can track your expenses more efficiently.
Many AI features are also found in the Gallery. Some are standard features, but many are rarely seen on other devices.
There’s AI Eraser, AI Recompose, AI Portrait Glow, AI Portrait Shot, Unblur, and Remove Reflection.
Apart from Mind Space, you can remap the Snap Key to launch other apps, jump directly to features within apps, execute commands, and more.
In terms of security, both the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and face unlock worked seamlessly.
Cameras
We head to the main event of this review: the camera. There are many elements to this section, including the built-in camera hardware, accessories, and software. Let’s start with the camera hardware.
The OPPO Find X9 Ultra boasts a 200-megapixel main camera that uses an Lytia 901 1/1.12-inch sensor, with a 23mm lens, f/1.5 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), and PDAF.
It is joined by another 200-megapixel camera with a 1/1.28-inch OV52A sensor, a 70mm 3x zoom lens, f/2.2 aperture, and PDAF. There’s also a 50-megapixel ISOCELL JNL 1/2.75-inch, 230mm 10x periscope zoom with OIS and PDAF; a 50-megapixel Lytia 600 1/1.95-inch ultra-wide 14mm with PDAF; and finally, a 50-megapixel ISOCELL JN5 21mm selfie camera with f/2.4 and PDAF.
Apart from the actual cameras, the Find X9 Ultra is also equipped with a 3.2-megapixel True Color multispectral sensor that analyzes light temperatures and zonal white balance. There’s also the dedicated camera button, which is pressure-sensitive and clicks using a vibration motor.
The main camera can shoot videos in 720p@30fps, 1080p and 4K @ 30fps/60fps/120fps, and 8K@30fps. The 70mm telephoto can shoot up to 4K@120fps and 8K@30fps, while the other three cameras can shoot up to 4K@60fps. It also has Dolby Vision recording and can use cinematic LUTs.
You also get robust camera software. There’s Master Mode, which allows you to manually adjust the ISO, shutter speed, AF, White Balance, and EV. More than branding, Hasselblad apparently offered its expertise to give photos a more natural color through the ProXDR feature and better tonality.
You also get Hasselblad-inspired filters, Hasselblad Hi-Res for full camera resolution without pixel-binning, and Hasselblad XPAN, which mimics the panoramic look and viewfinder of classic Hasselblad cameras (TX400, Portra, Positive, etc.).
We then have the premium accessories under the Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit. This includes the OPPO Hasselblad 300mm Explorer Teleconverter, with f/2.2 aperture and OIS+EIS.
It is paired with the OPPO Hasselblad Explorer Case, which has a built-in battery, an orange multi-function button, zoom dial, Hasselblad’s signature black leather Tundra-toned frame, a lens hood, a cool lens cover you can remove with a pinch gesture, an adapter ring, and a bracket for mounting on a tripod.
Now that we’ve talked about the camera hardware and software, let’s finally see how good they actually are.
Standard photos are taken in 28 megapixels with pixel-binning. Daylight photos are stunning, with colors that pop while still looking natural. The dynamic range is very wide. The contrast can look a bit too much when examined closely, but still looks nice. And the details are just top-notch.
Low-light shots are equally impressive. They’re well exposed, retain those incredible colors, have great dynamic range, and remain sharp. However, when zoomed in and examined closely, you can notice that the camera tends to smooth out details too aggressively, making them look cartoonish. Then again, it’s unnoticeable unless you zoom in.
That same sensor is used for 2x portrait photos, which have a 47mm equivalent and are great for portraits. Despite the digital zoom, sharpness remains excellent, even in low-light conditions.
The 200-megapixel telephoto camera can shoot 3x at a 70mm equivalent. But thanks to its sharp sensor, it’s also responsible for 6x shots at a 139mm equivalent.
Shots continue to be impressive. Colors are as good as the main camera, with the same dynamic range and sharp details. Even low-light shots are flawless.
The 50-megapixel 10x telephoto lens is great, but definitely not as good as the other cameras. It has a 230mm equivalent, which can get you very close to a subject.
Colors and dynamic range are still impressive. The details are incredible, too, but like most camera sensors, there’s a noticeable drop in quality as lighting gets challenging.
Then there’s the 300mm teleconverter camera. When attached, it sits in front of the 200-megapixel 3x telephoto camera.
We got incredible photos with this lens and even got DSLR-like bokeh. It’s great for portraits, street photography, sports coverage, and more.
But possibly the most popular use for having a lens this large is wildlife photography. While we weren’t close enough to a jungle or wildlife sanctuary to test it out, we were able to do some city bird-watching with it.
The shots we were able to get with it, as seen below, are magnificent. Since you’re shooting from below, dynamic range can be an issue. But the saved file is so rich that you can easily brighten the dark areas in the built-in editor to reclaim details without worrying about losing quality.
Now onto the 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The minor contrast issues we spotted on the main camera are more prominent here. Shutter speeds can also get very slow in low-light conditions, resulting in blurry moving subjects.
Still, the overall quality is good. Details are sharp, colors are incredible, and low-light performance is well-lit and detailed.
The device continues to impress all the way to the 50-megapixel selfie camera. Photos are lifelike, with accurate skin tones, a wide dynamic range, good autofocus, and nice low-light performance.
There’s no doubt that the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is one of the most powerful, impressive, and elaborate camera phones on the market, easily appealing to both beginners and photography enthusiasts.
Battery and Charging
The OPPO Find X9 Ultra has a 7,050mAh battery—one of the biggest batteries you can get on a flagship phone. What’s more, it has ultra-fast 100W wired charging support, 50W wireless charging, 10W reverse wireless charging, and reverse wired charging.
Sadly, we weren’t able to spend enough time with our Find X9 Ultra loaner unit to conduct our standard 1080p YouTube Video Loop Test.
That’s a shame, since we got a score of 25 hours and 52 minutes in our PCMark Synthetic Battery Test. That’s the highest score we’ve ever gotten on that test for a device in this segment.
The 100W SuperVOOC wired charger, as expected, also impresses. A full charge takes less than 53 minutes, while a 15-minute charge got us from 0 to 40%. See the full charging test below:

Verdict
The OPPO Find X9 Ultra is a flagship that goes all-in on photography—and it largely delivers. Its impressive camera hardware, versatile focal lengths, Hasselblad-inspired features, and excellent image quality make it one of the most capable camera phones we’ve tested.
But it’s not just about the cameras. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor delivers excellent performance, the QHD+ LTPO AMOLED display is fantastic, and the 7,050mAh battery with 100W SuperVOOC charging offers exceptional endurance and charging speeds. ColorOS 16 also brings a polished software experience with a generous six-year security support window.
The biggest compromise is its size and weight. The Find X9 Ultra is a large and bulky phone, and its extensive camera hardware makes it less comfortable to use for extended periods.
For its price, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is undeniably expensive. However, if photography is a priority and you want a phone that can cover everything from ultra-wide shots to long-range telephoto photography without compromising flagship performance, the Find X9 Ultra makes a compelling case for itself.
