Realme 6i vs Realme 5 Pro: What's the difference?

The Realme 6i is about to arrive in more markets, including the Philippines next week.

It sports some of the new features that most people are looking for on a modern entry-level smartphone. The Realme 6i brags a new processor, large battery, fast charging, and brand new design.

Its official price is yet to be announced. But judging by its SRP abroad, it may arrive in the country at around Php9,000 to Php11,000 depending on the configuration.

But the question is, is the Realme 6i the best Realme option for the price? Today, we’ll be comparing it to the Realme 5 Pro. It may be a last-gen model, but its recent price drop puts it head-to-head to the newcomer.

The Realme 6i might be the new comer, but the specs table above clearly favors the older Realme 5 Pro.

Those who are shopping in this price range value the processing power the most. The Helio G80 of the Realme 6i is made for gamers on a budget. However, benchmark scores reveals tha the Snapdragon 712 CPU of the Realme 5 Pro is still more powerful.

Although, their AnTuTu benchmark scores are very close to each other. The Realme 5 Pro is at around 220,000 and up, while the Realme 6i is around 200,000.

The Realme 5 Pro even comes with a flagship-level 8GB of RAM and a fast UFS 2.1 storage, while the 6i maxes out at 4GB with eMMC 5.1 storage. This means that the apps will load faster and multitasking will be smoother on the 5 Pro.

We have mixed-bag results in the display and battery department. If size matters, go with the Realme 6i. It has a larger 6.52-inch screen (vs 6.3-inches) and a 5,000mAh battery (vs 4,035mAh).

But if quality and speed is what you’re after, then get the Realme 5 Pro. It might be smaller, but it does have a sharper FHD+ screen (vs HD+). The battery might run out easier, but you can charge it faster thanks to its 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging support (vs 18W).

Cameras shouldn’t be a deciding factor when picking between the two, since they’re pretty much the same in this department.

They both have a 16-megapixel selfie camera. While on the back, they come with a 48-megapixel main shooter, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and two 2-megapixel sensors for macro shots and depth sensing.

Both devices will also get the latest Android 10 operating system with the company’s own Realme UI. A departure from the ColorOS 7 that they used to share with OPPO smartphones.

But if having a larger screen and bigger battery is important — and if budget is a top consideration — then going with the Realme 6i might be the better option. Let’s just hope that it will be cheaper than the 5 Pro when it gets here.
