After more than 10 years of development, Snap has finally unveiled its first pair of augmented reality glasses.
The company made the announcement at the Augmented World Expo 2026. The device, called Snap SPECS, is now available for pre-order.
The smart glasses come in two sizes. The smaller one weighs 132 grams, and the larger one weighs 136 grams. Both are made from a lightweight material called Swiss TR90 polymer. If you wear prescription glasses, you can get removable inserts that fit your needs.

The screen technology delivers a 51-degree field of view and shows 16 million colors. Snap says the display feels like looking at a 24-inch computer monitor when you are working. For watching videos, it feels more like a 115-inch cinema screen placed about 10 feet away.
Snap also improved its waveguide technology to make the view clearer. The lenses can change from clear to tinted in about 10 seconds, using the same kind of technology found in airplane windows.
SPECS run on two Snapdragon chips. One handles computer vision tasks, and the other runs the applications. The system tracks hand movements with very low delay, making digital objects feel like they are really sitting in the space around you.

The battery lasts up to four hours for mixed use, which includes watching videos, playing with Lenses, using AI, and getting notifications. The charging case gives you four more full charges, adding up to 20 hours total.
Snap has been preparing developers for this launch. Over the last year and a half, the company pushed out 10 software updates with more than 40 new features. Developers have already created hundreds of applications for the glasses.
New tools are rolling out now, including support for building in Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor. Snap also released a new development kit that lets programmers bring their own code into the system.

The social media giant says privacy was a priority from the beginning. An LED light turns on whenever the glasses are recording, so people around you know what is happening. The glasses ask for permission before accessing sensitive information. Most processing happens on the device itself, and users can decide what gets saved, shared, or deleted.
Snap SPECS are priced at $2,195 (~Php132,500) and can be pre-ordered now through the official website with a $200 (~Php12,000) refundable deposit. Snap plans to start shipping the glasses in September 2026.
