This is the first Android One smartphone to run Nougat out of the box.

We haven’t heard from Google for the last couple of months regarding its plans on the Android One project. But breaking the silence by announcing a new handset? We’re definitely pumped.

There were rumors before that Google is discontinuing the program because of its mediocre market performance. The announcement of the Pixel smartphones also worried enthusiasts, as it has also killed the Nexus brand. However, Google actually updated the Cherry Mobile One G1 two months, which gave us hope that it’s continuing the project.

Now, here’s the next generation Android One handset.

It weighs a considerable 160 grams, with measurements of 140.5 x 69.75 x 9.3 mm. It will be available in Black, Space Gray, and Golden colors.

The price of GM 5 is currently unknown as of the moment.

To be honest, this is more like the Cherry Mobile One G1 inside and out. Whether this is the same device with slight changes remains to be seen. Anyway, we’re glad that Android One is alive and kicking.

We can’t wait for our local brands to bring this smartphone in the Philippines.
