It’s really hard to declare the real winner here. As you can see, both devices have different leverages against each other. From the start, it’s clear that the ASUS ROG Phone and Huawei P20 Pro are actually made for different types of users. So, let’s cite each other’s good characteristics of the two and see which type of consumers they are for.
Let’s start with the ASUS ROG Phone. I guess the answer here is pretty obvious as this device is really meant for gamers. It has a really aggressive design — making it really appealing for its prospective users.
As expected, the ASUS ROG Phone has gaming-centric features. There’s the built-in AirTriggers, fast 90Hz refresh rate screen, and a slew of proprietary accessories that ASUS specifically designed to work for this device. However, that doesn’t mean that it is only exclusive to gamers. As you can see, the device packs some really serious hardware. There are the overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and a huge 4000mAh battery — making it a perfect companion for those power-users out there who use their smartphones in every task that they do.
On the other hand, the Huawei P20 Pro is obviously made for aspiring or professional photographers who want a device that can easily take good pictures without having to carry around a big camera.
The Huawei P20 Pro currently has the best smartphone camera today. It can take ludicrous slow-motion videos at 960fps, amazing night shots, and more.
It also comes with a respectable performance. It uses Huawei’s own Kirin 970 processor which delivers flagship-level performance, although it would probably get smoked by the Snapdragon 845 of the competition. It also comes with a 6-inch FHD+ OLED screen and a sizeable 4,000mAh battery.
To wrap it up, if camera quality and a more elegant design are top-priority, the Huawei P20 Pro is the better choice. But if you’re a true-blooded gamer and overall good performance is what you want, the ASUS ROG Phone’s gamer-ish design and proprietary accessories are probably for you.
As of writing, ASUS Philippines is yet to reveal the official pricing and availability of the ASUS ROG Phone in the country. On the other hand, the Huawei P20 Pro is now available in stores for a price of Php44,990.
