Cherry Mobile Cosmos X

Cherry Mobile a few days ago unveiled a slew of android handsets that once again shocked the Philippine smartphone scene. These devices might not be the cheapest at this point, but it’s easy to see why. The most affordable from the line-up is the Cherry Mobile Cosmos X.

By affordable I don’t mean the Php5,000 level and such, but this is indeed a great deal for a price of Php9,999.

The Cherry Mobile Cosmos X is powered by the now standard (for mid-range devices) MT6589 quad-core processor and complemented by PowerVR SGX544 and 1GB of RAM. Most of you are already familiar with the performance of the trio, but to sum things up – it’s very capable.

The thing that seperates this handset from the Cherry Mobile Omega HD 2.0, A919i, and O+ 8.15 is the screen. This packs a Super AMOLED display which is one of the finest in the market and is even the one used on high-end Samsung smartphones.

It also comes with an 18-megapixel rear autofocus BSI rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter. However, we should note that the MT6589 only support up to 12-megapixels so this is probably interpolated. It’s not an issue though.

Cherry Mobile Cosmos X probably has all the bells and whistles that you would expect for a sub-Php10k smartphone. But one thing that will make you think twice is the mediocre 1800mAh battery which can be pain when you’re away from an outlet to juice up the handset.
