MyPhone Agua Iceberg Featured

In case you missed it, MyPhone recently launched their much-vaunted phablet, the Agua Iceberg, a quad core handset with a monstrous 5.7 inch screen. There was a lot about the MyPhone Iceberg we didn’t already know about, thanks to a number of leaks and official press releases.

While some people may find anything with a screen larger than 5 inches to be too large to comfortably use as a phone, the hype was just too much as evidenced by the large crowd that had started gathering well before the Iceberg officially went on sale.

And why not? There’s a lot to like about it. The 5.7 inch Gorilla Glass 2-protected screen is an HD IPS panel with a resolution of 720 x 1280. The resulting image is sharp and clear, despite the large size. The IPS technology also lends itself to some great color reproduction and wide viewing angles.

Of course, it’s not just about the screen as the MyPhone Agua Iceberg is powered by a 1.2GHz quad core MediaTek MT6589 processor. Coupled with a PowerVR SGX544 GPU, the Iceberg performs quite snappily when navigating through the UI or playing 3D graphics. I was able to run it on Antutu and Temple Run Oz to test its synthetic and real-world performance. Many thanks to the MyPhone Android Dev group who had the APKs handy.

One thing that I really like about the MyPhone Iceberg is that it offers some unique features that you won’t see on any other locally-branded phone. The most notable software feature is the TARA anti-theft application that monitors unsuccessful unlock attempts, sets a password expiration, encrypts your files, and even has a kill switch that renders a stolen handset useless. There’s also Clever Motion that allows the Iceberg to respond appropriately to certain gestures and motions, such as automatically answering a call when you put the phone to your ear.

The MyPhone Agua Iceberg retails for Php11,988 and was available for installment at the official launch event for Php499 a month over 24 months at 0% interest. It’s not clear though as to if the installment plan will continue to be available if you decide to buy it through official kiosks and retailers.

  2. nah… try mo mag nba2k14 sa kahit anung myphone… then tignan nyo ang nba2k14 ng s3 big diference… floors, players, backgroup cheers, ball at shadows… not convising kahit anung games and sa touch pa lng di na ako na tutuwa. lalo na sa lcd.. you can se the light on the lcd in the side of the screen di katulad ng branded phones. malayong malayo malakas nga sila but still they are A7 cortex processor lng.. go for A9 processor kahit dual core a9 kakayanin talunin ang performance ng A7 kahit ilan cores pa yan..

    1. hmm.. why dont you try to purchase a samsung phone with the specs you are referring to with the price as same with this featured phone? Saka mo po sabihin yung BIG DIFFERENCE na sinasabi mo.
