Two of the popular phone brands here in the Philippines are set to battle it out in today’s specs comparison. Both Xiaomi and Cherry has taken the term entry-level to a whole another level thanks to their budget phones.

We’re talking about the Cherry Mobile Flare S8 and the Xiaomi Redmi 8A, who are both priced relatively similarly and are arguably a direct competitor of one another.

The first phone on the list is the Cherry Mobile Flare S8. The Flare S8’s best feature would arguably be its 12-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual rear cameras and along with its lone 13-megapixel selfie snapper.

We also have the Xiaomi Redmi A8. This one comes with a large 5,000mAh battery and to top it off, it also has an 18W fast battery charging feature. This phone is perfect for those mobile-heavy users.

Both phones look to have their own unique set of features but which one provides the best value for your money? Is the Cherry Mobile’s Flare S8 and its cameras the best option for you? Or is the Xiaomi Remi A8’s large battery size enough to overwhelm the competition? These are the questions we would like to answer in this Cherry Mobile Flare S8 vs Xiaomi Redmi 8A specs comparison.

From the looks of things, the two phones really differ from each other substantially. An example of this would be their processor and GPU. The Cherry Mobile Flare S8 has a Mediatek Helio P23 chip along with a Mali G71-MP2 GPU compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chip and Adreno 505 GPU of the Xiaomi Redmi 8A.

Judging by the benchmark scores between the two chipsets, it looks like the Helio P23 on the Flare S8 takes the win on this round.

Another difference would be their display – though it is minimal. The Flare S8 has a display size of 6.26-inch compared to the 6.22-inch display of the Xiaomi Redmi 8A. However, the Xiaomi Redmi 8A gets the upper hand thanks to its Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

On the memory aspect, the Cherry Mobile Flare S8 has a 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. While the Xiaomi Redmi 8A has a 2GB RAM along with a 32GB Storage. The Flare S8 takes the cake on this round.

Should you would want to expand your storage – both phones would be fully capable. Although, they do differ in expandable storage size as the Flare S8’s memory can only be expanded up to 128GB compared to the 512GB capacity of the Xiaomi Redmi A8.

Camera wise, the Cherry Mobile Flare S8 has a 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel (depth sensor) dual camera set up compared to the single 12-megapixel camera shooter of the Xiaomi Redmi 8A. Again, the Flare S8 wins this one.

This is the same story when it comes to their selfie cameras. The Flare S8 has a 13-megapixel selfie camera compared to the 8-megapixel camera of the Xiaomi Redmi 8A.

They also differ in some minor specs such as the microUSB 2.0 port of the Flare S8 compared to the USB Type-C port of the Redmi 8A. The Redmi 8A also lacks a fingerprint scanner but it does have a Face Unlock feature compared to the Flare S8, which has both security features.

On the battery side of things, the Cherry Mobile Flare S8 has a 2,800mAh battery versus the 5,000mAh battery and 18W Fast battery charging feature of the Xiaomi Redmi 8A. If your main preference in a phone is having a large battery size then the Xiaomi Redmi 8A would be a good pick for you.

Lastly, let’s talk about the price. The Cherry Mobile Flare S8 can be bought for the price of Php3,999 compared to the Xiaomi Redmi 8A’s price of Php5,490.

To summarize, it looks like the Cherry Mobile Flare S8 takes the win in this specs comparison. Its superior camera, slightly bigger display and the cheaper price tag is too much for the Xiaomi Redmi 8A to beat.
