Firefly Mobile is back at it again with a new smartphone. And now, the company is putting their name in the phablet category with the Firefly Mobile Intense XL.
The company’s latest offering is for those who are looking for a smartphone with a big screen real-estate but doesn’t want to break the bank.
The Firefly Mobile Intense XL has a large 6-inch qHD IPS display. But before you get too excited, it doesn’t have a pixel-packed 2560 x 1440 resolution. There’s a huge difference in pixel count between a QHD and qHD panels, the latter having only a 960 x 540 resolution. With that said, the display will only have 184ppi, which is quite low for a handset this size. Having a large but low-res display might be unideal, but for someone who’s really looking for an economical phablet, then the Intense XL might just work.
The Firefly Mobile Intense XL also has a 1.3GHz quad-core processor to power everything up, but only has 1GB of RAM. Everything is being juiced-up by a 3000mAh battery which can be more than enough considering the low-res display and an underpowered processor.
But on a brighter note, the device looks like it has an interesting look and sturdy build. Judging by its official product photos, the Firefly Mobile Intense XL is made from metal and has some sleek chamfered edges. However, I have noticed that the back suffers from an ugly and obtrusive camera bump.
