Huawei has made a less powerful version of its expensive flagship smartphone.
Dubbed as the Huawei Mate 9 Lite, it’s a toned down variant of the Mate 9 launched earlier this month. The design is basically the same, so only those elements inside have been changed.
It carries a slightly smaller 5.5-inch 1080p IPS screen that’s not as pixel dense as its bigger brother’s QHD resolution. Compared to the Mate 9, the 2.1GHz octa-core Kirin 655 chipset is also less of a performer. Additionally, the RAM was cut in half – now only 3GB / 4GB. There’s a choice between 32GB and 64GB storage. Unfortunately, it’s not expandalbe in case you need extra.
Since it’s ‘Lite’, it’s understandable that Huawei did some cost cutting. Despite its camera setup, the sensors have been downgraded to a combination of 12-megapixel + 2-megapixel sensors at the back. It comes with phase detection autofocus as well as LED flash. In front, an 8-megapixel shooter can be used for self portraits.
