A couple of new fancy hardware from HUAWEI have come out in China. One of those is the HUAWEI MatePad Air 2024.
The HUAWEI MatePad Air 2024 offers a thin and light design. It’s only 5.9mm thick and weighs 555g. HUAWEI says that it’s just like carrying a magazine with you. Also, they achieved this despite having a beefy cooling chamber.
Speaking of the vapor chamber, HUAWEI didn’t mention the chip it’s cooling. If we were to speculate, it could be a modified version of the Kirin 9010 found on the Pura 70 series.
But, they did say that you can get it with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
On the front, we have a large 12-inch IPS LCD with a 2800 x 1840 pixel resolution, a high 144Hz refresh rate, and a tall 3:2 aspect ratio that should be good for gaming. There’s also a Soft Light edition of the device with a paper-like coating that eliminates reflections.
The screen also has a 1,000-nit peak brightness and works with the M-Pencil stylus.
It then has a large 10,100mAh non-removable battery and a speedy 66W charging. Software is handled by the HarmonyOS 4.2.
The device also managed to have dual cameras on the back. There’s a 13-megapixel main shooter, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and another 8-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies.
The HUAWEI MatePad Air 2024 has a price of CNY2,899 (~Php23,200) for the 8GB/256GB and CNY3,199 (~Php25,600) for the 12GB/256GB. Meanwhile, the Soft Light Edition with the same RAM and storage configurations retails for CNY3,499 (~28,100) and CNY3,899 (31,300), respectively. They are now listed in China while international release details are yet to be known.
