Kata i3

As local brands start making the move to Full HD screens and octa core processors, last year’s specs should start becoming more affordable. Hopefully, that will be the case with the upcoming Kata i3, which Kata Digital recently teased on their blog. They were kind enough to email us a fairly complete spec list, so we can have a good idea of what the device is capable of before it’s actually released.

The Kata i3 won’t feature the latest specs, but its 5 inch HD IPS screen should still give great image quality, color reproduction and clarity. It will come equipped with a 1.3GHz quad core processor and 1GB RAM, which should provide decent performance and multitasking capabilities. It will also break the norm for locally-branded smartphones by coming with a whopping 16GB of internal storage.

As for imaging capabilities, the Kata i3 will come with a 13mp rear-facing autofocus camera that should be good enough to replace your average point-and-shoot. A 5mp front camera is there for video calls and the occasional  selfie.

The Kata i3 is fairly complete when it comes to wireless connectivity. It supports UMTS 2100, WiFi b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0. No mention of GPS in the spec sheet, but they’re usually built into most smartphone SoCs anyway.

No news yet about when the Kata i3 will actually hit stores or how much it will be priced. Hopefully, it will retail for less than Php10k, but the 16GB internal storage might drive it up beyond that price point.

  3. I’m still using my Kata I1 and honestly, for 8.5k, wala akong maibatong pangit sa phone. Well, mabagal mag start up and since 1600mah lang yata ang batt ay madali ring malowbat. Pero Most of the time ay okay naman. Ginawa na rin itong pamato ng baby ko at inilublob pa niya sa gatas. Buhay pa rin hanggang ngayon. So durability is 8 for me. Camera and video is also 8.

  4. Other brands are releasing 4.3 and some on 4.4. Don’t expect upgrades from them. Just get another brand.

  5. kata products usually were overpriced. dont evn consider buying from them they have a horrible.aftersales support and dumb service center.

    1. Can you tell me more about your experienced with them since I’m planning to get one. Might help me decide on getting one.
      Thanks.

      1. I had a Kata Fishtab3 and which they claimed to be memory expandable but it’s 5.6Gb of internal memory when it gets low, you can’t transfer them to SD card… memet is right, the aftersales support is useless.. Just stay away from Kata products, you can get a better specs product from other brands, cheaper, too…

        1. Thanks memet for the info.
Can you give me a list of local brands which have the same specs and almost the same price as well?
          Thanks.

      2. I have Kata i1 before. It was released on ICS 4.04 and was never updated. The handset is good and have no problems on warranty. However when you want your Android to be updated then Kata is not the product of choice.
