New OPPO F1s with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage

OPPO has announced an upgraded version of the #SelfieExpert.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is probably feeling the heat from the recently announced Vivo V5. The OPPO F1s is only a couple of months old as it was just introduced last August but the company is not resting on its laurels.

The new OPPO F1s with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage is definitely meant to go head-to-head with Vivo’s new selfie-centric offering. Design-wise, the two handsets look strikingly similar to each other. That said, it’s not surprising if a person with an untrained eye become confused which is which.

Everything else about the F1s remains unchanged. The device still has an aluminum unibody design with strong resemblance to the iPhone. The processor is an octa-core chipset clocked at 1.5GHz, expandable storage support, and fingerprint scanner which can unlock the phone in as fast as 0.22 seconds.

While we find ColorOS 3.0 good enough, that doesn’t make up for the outdated Android 5.1 Lollipop version of this smartphone. Hopefully, OPPO will release an update to 6.0 Marshmallow soon.

The camera is still the highlight of the handset. A 16-megapixel selfie camera with with an aperture of f/2.0 is positioned in front. There’s also phase detection autofocus to help with taking pictures. At the back, there’s a 13-megapixel sensor which also has PDAF, f/2.2, and LED flash.

Now that Vivo officially brought the V5 to the Philippines, we’re expecting OPPO to act immediately and bring the upgraded F1s here. Or go with the easier route and drop the price of the F1s to make it more enticing.

The new OPPO F1s is priced at Rs. 18,990 in India, which translates to approximately Php13,800. We’ll let you know once we get more information about the new OPPO F1s.
