In the market for a budget phone from Nokia? Look out for the new Nokia G21, which just made its way to the Philippines.
The new Nokia G21 features a compact 6.5-inch display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and has a 180Hz touch sampling rate for extra responsiveness, especially in gaming. Sadly, it only comes with an HD+ resolution instead of the usual FHD.
Under the hood, it’s powered by a UNISOC T606 octa-core processor, paired with a roomy 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage that can go up to 512GB via a microSD card.
The new chip brings a couple of modern connectivity features like dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0, but no 5G. It’s not clear yet if the unit we’re getting here in the country comes with NFC.
For power, the G21 is rigged with a large 5,050mAh battery. It can support up to 18W chargers but only comes with a 10W adapter. It ships with Android 11 OS and Nokia promises two major upgrades in the future.
The device then has an ultra-sharp 50-megapixel main camera, which we’re starting to see in more budget phones today. Albeit, it lacks an ultra-wide lens, but does come with two 2-megapixel shooters for macro and depth sensing. There’s a traditional notch on the front for the 8-megapixel selfie snapper.
Standard Nokia features are also here. Other than the stock Android experience, it comes with OZO spatial audio capture for video calls and video recording.
There’s also a dedicated Google Assistant button for easier access.
