Nokia X6 with screen notch and dual cameras unveiled

After being leaked a number of times, HMD Global as finally unveiled the new Nokia X6 — the revival of the famed Nokia X-series from the past.

The Nokia X6, as expected, is here to compete with a lot of midrange devices in the market. And just like all of the new Nokia smartphones under HMD Global, this thing is dressed to kill despite the entry-level hardware.

One of its distinct features is the display notch on top. This is a statement from Nokia that they are already joining the bandwagon. It has thin top and sides bezels, although the bottom part is slightly thick as it also houses the Nokia logo. Still, it managed to have an impressive 95% screen-to-body ratio.

The screen itself has a size of 5.8-inches, with a Full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels, and a tall aspect ratio of 19:9.

The back panel is identical to Nokia’s other releases like the Nokia 8 Sirocco. It’s from a shiny material, has a fingerprint scanner at the middle, and also houses the dual 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual cameras. There’s also a 16-megapixel camera on the front for taking selfies.

Under the hood, Nokia X6 is being powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor and is available in three different memory and storage variants: 4GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB, and 6GB/64GB.

Out of the box, the device will run on Android 8.1 Oreo. However, HMD Global already promised that it will be receiving the Android P update once it becomes available.

The Nokia X6 will be available in China starting May 21. It will retail for a price of CNY1,299 (~Php10,700) for the 4GB/32GB model, CNY1,449 (~Php11,900) for the 4GB/64GB, and the top of the line 6GB/64GB variant will cost CNY1,699 (~Php14,000).

Official pricing and availability outside China, especially in the Philippines, are yet to be known.
