After tons of rumors and being leaked for a couple of times, the OnePlus 8 series are finally official.

Let’s start right away with the specs and features of the OnePlus 8 Pro. This thing has an enormous 6.78-inch Fluid AMOLED screen, with a fast 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. This will allow the device to really flex the power of its Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor.

The display uses a 10-bit panel for accurate colors and HDR10+ support for those who like watching HDR content on Netflix and other sources. The OnePlus 8 Pro can also enhance 8-bit videos and turn 24fps videos to 120fps thanks to interpolation.

There’s a punch-hole on the top left for the 16-megapixel selfie camera, leaving the pop-up phase behind us.

The key feature here is the main cameras on the back. It has two pixel-packed sensors for the primary and ultra-wide sensors, just like the P40 Pro. A large 48-megapixel Sony IMX689 sensor with omni-directional PDF acts as a primary shooter, while another 48-megapixel sensor is equipped with an ultra-wide lens that doubles as a macro camera.

We also have an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with OIS that can do up to 30x of digital zoom. Completing the quad-camera setup is a 5-megapixel color filter sensor.

Finally, OnePlus is bringing wireless charging on its smartphones — and they did a great job for a first-timer. The OnePlus 8 Pro will have Warp Charge 30 Wireless support. That 30W of power that can go from 1% to 50% charge in 30 minutes.

But if you’re in a hurry, you can plug in the Warp Charge 30T wired charger to get a 50% charge in only 23-minutes.

The OnePlus 8 Pro has a price of USD999 (~Php50,600) for the 12GB/256GB model. A cheaper 8GB/128GB variant should be out soon for USD899 (~Php45,500). You can get it in Onyx Black, and the new Glacial Green and Ultramarine Blue color option.

It will be available in the US starting April 29. OnePlus is offering a free launch day bundle that comes with a wireless charger and Bullets Wireless Z earphones.

The more affordable OnePlus 8 have some downgrades over the Pro model but doesn’t skimp out on the important features.

For one, it’s still powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 octa-core processor. The screen will still have HDR 10+ and good color accuracy, but it’s been downgraded to a 6.55-inch FHD+ panel with a 90Hz refresh rate.

The camera also received a downgrade to achieve that noticeably cheaper price. This thing has an older 48-megapixel main camera, which now lacks the new omni-directional PDAF technology.

We also have a toned-down ultra-wide camera, which now has a 16-megapixel sensor. There’s a separate 2-megapixel camera for macro shots. The telephoto capabilities is now gone.

OnePlus also removed the wireless charging feature on this one and made the battery smaller to 4,300mAh.

The OnePlus 8 is available in new Interstellar Glow and Glacial Green color options, with the 12GB/256GB model retailing for USD799 (~Php40,400). The release details for the 8GB/128GB variant, which will retail for USD699 (~Php35,400), is yet to be known.
