OPPO’s new ColorOS 14, based on the latest Android 14 update, has been made official and the tech giant spared no details on the new software that will grace a number of its modern smartphones.

There are a couple of things that are new with the ColorOS 14 update. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at its best new features and the list of supported devices and update the schedule to check if and when your device will get it.

ColorOS 14 best new features

We’ve narrowed down the top new features of the ColorOS 14 update to instantly get you excited.

Aquamorphic Colouring System

OPPO’s Aquamorphic Design, which we saw on Android 13, has a rich history behind it and marks a major milestone for the ColorOS team as they shift to a new design language.

For the ColorOS 14, OPPO is introducing the new Aquamorphic Colouring System that can intelligently adjust the colors of the UI to match the device’s status, time of day, and whatever is on the display.

Aqua Dynamics

This one basically works like Apple’s Dynamic Island. Select apps, when running, can be minimized on the status bar, which you can press to expand to give you additional control.

Smart Touch, File Dock, Smart Image Matting

OPPO is bringing select Android 14 stock AI-powered features to ColorOS. There’s the Smart Touch that lets you select content like texts, videos, and images from the system and select apps and save them on the File Dock or keep them in a single note by select-and-drag gestures.

Meanwhile, Smart Image Matting allows you to crop multiple subjects out from a photo or paused video. The cutouts can be edited in the File Dock, File Pocket, or shared with friends.

Smoother performance with upgraded Trinity Engine

For a smoother experience, the Trinity Engine has been upgraded by efficiently managing memory allocation (RAM Vitalization), processing power (CPU Vitalization), and storage (ROM Vitalization).

OPPO claims that ROM Vitalization can save you up to 20GB of storage space by compressing apps and file data; RAM Vitalization can boost memory performance by 10% and have most-used apps running in the background for up to 72 hours using OPPO’s proprietary technologies.

Finally, CPU Vitalization is a system-level computer power scheduling that helps provide the smoothest user experience possible without the battery drain.

Better Safety and Privacy Protection

More than Android 14’s built-in privacy prowess, OPPO adds Picture Keeper, which ensures that apps won’t be able to misuse permissions to gain access to your personal photos and videos.
