We’ve seen it coming, and now, they are here. Check out the new Realme C55, which has a feature that looks very familiar.
When Apple announced the new iPhone 14 Pro series, it had one standout feature: Dynamic Island. It’s a fresh take on the punch-hole screen design, paired with special UI features that make it look more attractive. We expected Android OEMs to offer a similar feature, and now we’ve seen one with the Realme C55.
For the C55, Realme calls it a Mini Capsule. Like on iOS, a capsule-shaped pop-up emerges to show charging status, low battery alerts, data consumption, step counter, and walking distance.
However, the punch-hole itself looks the same as it only comes with a single 8-megapixel selfie camera. It sits on top of the 6.72-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate.
The new C55 also boasts a fast 33W SuperVOOC charging, which is a first in the budget-friendly C series. Improved charging speeds on budget phones like this are expected, considering that the industry has already achieved 240W speeds.
Powering the C55 is a MediaTek Helio G88 processor with up to roomy 8GB of RAM for multitasking, and 256GB of storage to store all your apps, media, and the photos and videos you’d be taking from its sharp 64-megapixel main camera.
Per usual, the C55 will come with a 5,000mAh battery, which can be fully charged by the SuperVOOC charger in just 63 minutes — twice as fast compared to the traditional 18W adapter that these devices usually come with.
What’s more, Realme also included NFC connectivity, Dirac audio, and the latest Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0.
The new Realme C55 comes in 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants for a price of IDR2,499,000 (~Php8,900) and IDR2,999,000 (~Php10,700), respectively. It will be available in Indonesia starting March 8. No word yet if it’s coming to the Philippines.
