Xiaomi’s sub-brand just released its very first tablet, the Redmi Pad. Like its cousins, it comes with an interesting set of specs without breaking the bank.
The Redmi Pad is one of those large 10.6-inch tablets, giving you a lot of room for multitasking, on-screen controls for gamers, and making movies immersive. It has a 2,000 x 1,200 pixel resolution and the obligatory 90Hz refresh rate.
Having a large screen also means good audio. This one has four speakers, two on each side, for a stereo setup, complete with Dolby Atmos technology.
Under the hood, it is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 octa-core processor, which you can pair with 3GB, 4GB, or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage.
It then has two 8-megapixel cameras. One on the back with a regular lens, while the one on the front is ultra-wide with a 105-degree field of view to ensure you’re on the frame even when you’re moving. The latter takes advantage of Redmi’s FocusFrame technology, which tracks your movement on video calls. Great for video presentations and more.
For software, it comes with an Android 12-based MIUI interface. The company promised that the device will receive 3 years of software support and 2 major Android updates.
The Redmi Pad has a starting price of INR12,999 (around Php9,300) for the 3GB/64GB, INR14,999 (around Php10,700) for the 4GB/64GB while the top-of-the-line variant is at INR16,999 (around Php12,100). They are now available in India and are yet to come in the Philippines and other countries. In the meantime, you can check the other tablets available locally.
