Samsung’s budget-friendly Galaxy J series has always been their moneymaker in the budget segment. Due to their affordable price tag, these devices tend to be a hot-seller. As a follow-up, they are releasing a new addition to this line — the Samsung Galaxy J2 2018.
Just like its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy J2 2018 aims to deliver a decent smartphone experience for those who are shopping in the low-end category. While the device is yet to be launched in the Philippines, we got some information about this device as it was officially unveiled in India.
Design-wise, the new Samsung Galaxy J2 2018looks identical to its bigger brother, the Galaxy J2 Pro. It has a small Super AMOLED screen set at 5-inches plus soft rounded corners and edges. The bad news is that t only has a qHD screen, which translates to a measly 960 x 540 pixel resolution. But this is not surprising at all, considering the hardware of its predecessor.
On the inside, there is some pretty low-end stuff. The chipset is a Snapdragon 425 from Qualcomm, 16GB of expandable storage, and 2GB of RAM that’s exclusive to the Indian market. Once it gets released in other parts of the world, the memory will be downgraded to 1.5GB.
But other than the hardware, one of the Galaxy J2 2018’s highlights feature lies in the software. It will be one of the first devices to come with Samsung Mall. Nope, Samsung did not build their own e-commerce business. Instead, Samsung Mall allows users to click the desired product and the app and it will generate search results across leading online shopping platforms. It is still not clear if this feature is India-exclusive, but we hope it’s not.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 2018 has a price of INR 8,190 in India, which is around Php6,300 when directly converted to Philippine Peso. There’s no word yet regarding the ricing and availability of the Galaxy J2 2018 in the Philippines.
