Are smartphones with removable batteries will become a norm again? The new TCL Ion X gives us hope.

The European Union is pushing a law that will require smartphone makers to only implement removable batteries to make things easier for consumers once the module degrades over time. But for now, it’s up to the brand if they choose to have their phones come with hot-swappable batteries or not. Thankfully, TCL was kind enough to release one with the new TCL Ion X.

This one has a detachable back panel so you can easily replace the battery. Albeit, it has a relatively small capacity of only 3,000mAh. Still, it’s great if you want to keep two batteries and easily swap to a fully-charged one so you’re always on the go.

The rest of the specs scream entry-level. It has a MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core processor, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. It also boasts a compact 6-inch HD+ display, a 5-megapixel selfie camera, and a 13-megapixel main shooter on the back.
