This guide will show you the step by step process in rooting your Samsung Galaxy Y. Remember to be  cautious in following the steps provided because nothing will go wrong if you followed the guide carefully. Read the instructions a few times to be familiar with the steps before start. If you’re ready, let’s start.

  1. Download this file. DOWNLOAD HERE.
  2. Copy the downloaded ZIP file to the root of your SD card (make sure it is not stored in any folder)
  3. Switch off your phone.
  4. Trigger recovery mode by holding power button+volume up button+home button together.
  5. Using the volume keys, go to select update from SD card. The contents of your SD card will be opened the choose the file you downloaded which is update.zip. If you will be ask for a confirmation, choose yes.
  6. Wait until the update is finish.
  7. Check if the superuser icon appeared in your app drawer. If you see the icon, then you made it.
  8. Celebrate because you succesfully rooted your Samsung Galaxy Y S5360!

Now that you have rooted your device, try those useful apps and special apps which requires root-access to rule your device. Furthermore, you can also look for tweaks for improvement in the UI, speed, sound, battery life, and other performance enhancing hacks.

If however you want to bring back your warranty and you don’t like having root access, there is also a way on how to unroot your phone. Follow the steps below (the process is almost identical to the one above)

  2. Do the steps above by choosing the update from SD card and finding your downloaded ZIP file.
  3. Confirm the action and your done! Your Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 is now unrooted.

  1. how can I root again my samsung galaxy y gt-s5360? I unrooted it because the second partition did not work,so I tried to root it again but it doesn’t work anymore.. pls help me to root back my phone..thanks :)

    dati kasi normal lang pag nakaka recieve ako ng txt at pag nagrereply ako..sa baba lang siya na parang sa FB chat lang
    ngayon e palagi na siya sa taas at bumabalik pababa pag mag type na ko para mag reply or makakareciece ulit ako ng txt…

  3. hi, sino po marunong mg unbricked or pano mag ayos ng bootloop haha na stuck s logo yong samsung galaxy y ko eh, then i used odin to fix it. pass naman siya but it still it wont open, i dont know y? hmm before that im trying to fix it by rooting my phone but the sd card is not recognize so i cant root my phone, haist pano ba ito… thanks s makakatulog email me po at decakeesh@gmail.com, sana may makatulong 3days ko ng di mgmit tong phone.

    1. The process to restore your Galaxy Y:
      Extract the Official Android 2.3 Gingerbread ZIP file to S5830DDKQ8_S5830ODDKQ7_S5830DDKQ8_HOME.tar.md5 on a folder on your desktop
      Run the downloaded Odin tool as Administrator
      Check One Package, Auto Reboot and Protect OPS checkbox in Odin Tool (See Screenshot below)
      Click on OPS and select the Cooper OPS (See Screenshot below)
      Click on One Package and select the Official Android ZIP md5 that you extracted in Step 1 (See Screenshot below)
      Do NOT change other options and keep ODIN on your PC running
      Switch off your Galaxy Y and reboot in Recovery mode by pressing Home button, Volume Down button and Power button together
      Connect your Android to your Computer via USB as soon as Recovery mode starts up
      ODIN should show up your Galaxy Y connected (If it does not connect it means the ODIN version is not compatible. Click here to get a list of other ODIN versions)
      When ODIN shows connected, Click Start and wait for around 10 minutes to see the message PASS
      On your Galaxy Y, enter into Recovery Mode again (holding Home+Power together this time)
      You can browse using Vol up/down keys. Select Wipe Data/Factory Data and then Wipe Cache Partition.
      Reboot your Phone. Your phone should be restored back to Normal.

Naghang c.p ko tapos ginawa ko tinanggal kompo ung battery tas kinabit ko ulit ayun ayaw na panay samsung welcome lang. Pero 2 months palang po siya sakin . Sa tingin NIYO PWEDE KO PA BA MAPAPALIT UNG CELLPHONE KO SA PINAGBILAN KONG SHOP ? 1 YEAR WARRANTY NAMAN PO SIYA EHH ? SAGOT NAMAN PO KAYO SA MAY ALAM KUNG PWEDE PA MAPAPALIT YUN ?   5. thanks for all the help. is the second partition supposed to be the bigger one or the smaller one? i did it succesfully but i cant make any sense of it the phone storage info says total space on sd card is 2.05 available space is 2.05 im using a 16 gig card should the second partition be the larger one or the first one?
