This guide will show you the step by step process in rooting your Samsung Galaxy Y. - Download this file. DOWNLOAD HERE.
- Copy the downloaded ZIP file to the root of your SD card (make sure it is not stored in any folder)
- Switch off your phone.
- Trigger recovery mode by holding power button+volume up button+home button together.
- Using the volume keys, go to select update from SD card. The contents of your SD card will be opened the choose the file you downloaded which is update.zip. If you will be ask for a confirmation, choose yes.
- Wait until the update is finish.
- Check if the superuser icon appeared in your app drawer. If you see the icon, then you made it.

hope this thread is still alive… ngayon ko lang ulit naopen SGY ko and sabi ko sayang naman. I want to root it again to upgrade it to CM9. kaso I’ve failed. naroot ko siya noon and naunroot ko siya. I forgot what I did to root it. ngayon lagi siya fail pag root ulit… can anyone help me?
