MediaTek’s Dimensity 700 chipset is far from retiring as it powered yet another budget 5G smartphone, the vivo Y35 5G.
An upgrade from the 4G-only version, the vivo Y35 5G uses the said trusty chipset from MediaTek with an option between 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB of RAM and a single 128GB storage.
The Y35 5G shares the same set of specs that we’ve seen on a lot of affordable 5G smartphones. For one, it has a 6.51-inch IPS screen with only an HD+ resolution. A high 90Hz refresh rate would’ve been more apt, but it only has the standard 60Hz.
On the back, we have a similar design to the 4G-only version. Albeit, the main 50-megapixel camera was dropped to 13-megapixel. It is joined by a 2-megapixel macro lens and a downgraded 5-megapixel (from 16-megapixels) on the front for selfies.
The charging speed is slower at 15W from 45W, but it does have the same 5,000mAh non-removable battery.
Since it’s in China, it will come with Android 13-based OriginOS Ocean.
The vivo Y35 5G comes in 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB, and 8GB/128GB variants for a price of CNY1,199 (around Php9,500), CNY1,399 (around Php11,100), and CNY1,499 (around Php11,900), respectively. They will be initially available in China and should arrive in other countries soon.
