Xiaomi has released a new and bigger tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4-inch.
As the name suggests, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4-inch is larger than the initial Pad 5 Pro model that came out a year ago that only had an 11-inch screen. Since it has the same resolution, the sharpness was dropped at 244 pixels-per-inch (vs 274ppi). On the upside, it comes with 27% more usable space.
It now only has 8-bit color (from 10-bit), but still has Dolby Vision and HDR10.
Thanks to the larger body, the 8,600mAh battery was upgraded to 10,000mAh. It is paired with a 67W fast charger, which can provide a full charge in only 68 minutes.
Other than the size differences, everything is essentially the same. It is still powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 octa-core processor and can be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Sadly, it wouldn’t get a 5G version.
Since Xiaomi expects you to use it more in online classes and virtual meetings, they rigged it with a 20-megapixel Sony IMX596 sensor at 1.6µm that allows for good low-light performance.
The rear cameras on the back aren’t too shabby, either. What we have here is a sharp 50-megapixel main shooter, which is joined by a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
It also allows you to use external monitors via DisplayPort as it comes with a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 port. It can also be paired with a dedicated full-size keyboard for a more laptop-like experience, or a Xiaomi stylus that offers 4,096 pressure levels with 240Hz tracking for jotting down notes or doing art.
The Xiaomi Pad 5 12.4-inch has a starting price of CNY2,999 (around Php24,800) for the 6GB/128GB model. It also comes in 8GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB versions for CNY3,499 (around Php28,900) and CNY4,199 (around Php34,700), respectively. The keyboard stand comes in at CNY469 (around Php3,900) while the stylus is at CNY349 (around Php2,900). They are now up for pre-order in China while release details in the Philippines are yet to be known.
