Hisense has introduced a new smart television called the CanvasTV, which features a matte screen that can display artwork and photographs. This allows it to seamlessly integrate with home decor when not in use as a traditional TV. The concept is reminiscent of Samsung’s The Frame, but Hisense’s version comes with a more affordable price tag.

The Hisense CanvasTV will be offered in two sizes: a 55-inch model priced at $999 (~Php57,000) and a larger 65-inch variant for $1,299 (~Php74,100). In comparison, Samsung’s The Frame TV is priced higher at $1,499 for the 55-inch and $1,999 for the 65-inch model.

Similar to The Frame, the CanvasTV boasts a 4K QLED screen that comes with anti-glare coating. Additional features include an ambient light RGB sensor, high 144Hz refresh rate, and a multi-channel 2.0.2 surround sound system.

Hisense has equipped the CanvasTV with a variety of pre-installed artworks from different genres such as renaissance, abstract, and even modern. Users can easily switch between art displays and personal photos by using the “Art Mode” feature accessible via the remote control. The television also has a motion sensor to detect room occupancy, allowing it to turn off automatically to save energy when no one is present.

While LG has incorporated a “Gallery Mode” in some of its televisions for displaying artwork (including the option to showcase NFTs), and other smart TV manufacturers have added similar gallery features, the CanvasTV stands out as the most cost-effective choice in the US market for those looking to disguise their television as a piece of art.

The Hisense CanvasTV will be sold with a teak frame and a wall mount, though Hisense will also offer alternative walnut and white frames for those who prefer a different look. These frames will be available for purchase separately. Customers looking to buy the CanvasTV can expect it to hit the market in the next few months.
