vivo has quietly launched a new smartphone in the lower-midrange segment, the vivo Y38 5G. The device appeared without fanfare on vivo’s official Taiwanese website.
Sporting a 6.68-inch 1612x 720 pixel resolution LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, the vivo Y38 is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor. It boasts 8GB of RAM and a generous 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which can be further expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card.

The vivo Y38 5G also features a dual-camera setup on the back with a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, an 8-megapixel camera caters to selfie and video calling needs. The handset also incorporates a side-mounted fingerprint reader integrated into the power button for added security.
One of the standout features of the vivo Y38 is its massive 6,000mAh battery, which supports 44W fast wired charging. Additionally, it comes with an IP64 rating, indicating a degree of dust and splash resistance.

The vivo Y38 5G runs on the Android 14 operating system, complemented by vivo’s own Funtouch OS 14. Design-wise, the handset comes in two colors: Agate Green, with a thickness of 7.99mm, and Pacific Blue, slightly thicker at 8.09mm and featuring a sparkling back designed to replicate the look of ocean waves. Pricing and availability information are currently unknown.
