Aboitiz’s infrastructure arm, Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. (AIC), is set to enter the data center business after it signed a partnership deal with EdgeConneX (ECX), a data center solutions company from the United States.
The partnership between Aboitiz and EdgeConneX will help create a local data center and will offer information technology equipment for cloud service providers. The goal is to help address the increase in data usage in the Philippines.
Aboitiz and EdgeConneX will build the first data center close to the National Capital Region (NCR), while a second hyperscale campus is set to be located in the greater Manila area.

More hyperscale data centers are planned to be built across the country that will use the ECX global data center platform, operational and build capabilities, and hyperscale customer relationships.
Meanwhile, the partnership will take advantage of AIC’s assets, local expertise, and infrastructure portfolio that includes 1,400 hectares of prime industrial real estate. Plus, AboitizPOwer’s diverse renewable energy capacity.
Hyperscale data centers cater to businesses, especially cloud service providers.

The partnership is poised to boost the Philippines’ digital infrastructure ecosystem and will help serve the growing demand in the local scene.
Back in 2020, Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc., said that they will roll out small cell networks to help telcos improve their signal and 5G deployment.
