Amid the influx of data requirements with its growing user base, Converge ICT Solutions, Inc. is looking to expand with three new data centers for a hefty sum of $60 million.

Dennis Anthony Uy, CEO and co-founder of Converge, told that the approximate time of completion of the project will be in two years, each site having a maximum capacity of 1000 racks.

Going into the specifics, Uy said that the construction phase will start this year, with sites being in Angeles, Pampanga, and Quezon City.

Uy also added that the sites will have 600 racks to them but with the capacity to upgrade to 1,000 racks, which will be completed within 18 to 24 months.

As it is, Converge is already in the process of expansion as it sees the finishing of the P1 billion data center in Cebu, which has an expected time of completion in Q3 2024. Said infrastructure will house around 300 racks when it finishes.

Data centers play a crucial role in telcos like Converge for holding critical assets and their role in centralizing the organization’s shared information and technology equipment and operations for storing, processing, and distributing data and applications.

The $60 million price tag is certainly a large sum but the company head says that Converge has not started any funding activities just yet.

The decision seemingly boils down to the high-interest rates and the luck that came with having secured financial support earlier.
