JoyRide, a motorcycle ride-hailing company, announced that it will soon start offering car transportation services in the Philippines.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has awarded JoyRide transport network company (TNC) accreditation, signed last February 24. This will let JoyRide compete with Grab, which currently dominates the 4-wheel ride-hailing service industry in the country.

In preparation, JoyRide is now recruiting drivers and operators to register with them as partners.

JoyRide first started back in 2019 as one of the 3 motorcycle ride-hailing companies included in the pilot study for the viability of using motorcycles as public transport. It has since expanded to other services like “pabili,” online shopping, mobile load, COVID-19 home testing, etc.

Currently, JoyRide services are available in Metro Manila, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, Metro Cebu, and Baguio. With over 20,000 drivers and partners, the company has a wide range of motorcycles, cars, trucks, and vans to cater to its customers.

Prior to exiting the Philippines, Uber used to compete with Grab in the ride-sharing industry before it sold off its Southeast Asian operations.
