The inevitable competitor of the Vivo V9 has finally arrived. Earlier today, OPPO has officially launched the new OPPO F7 in India. And while it is not due to arrive in the Philippines until next month, let’s see how it stacks up against its archnemesis here in the country.
Just like the OPPO F5 and the Vivo V7+, the new F7 and V9 are destined to take on each other. Both phones have comparable specs, price, and design.
Speaking of the design, both devices joined the display notch revolution — a smartphone design made popular by the iPhone X and we expect to see more of it this year. This is the new feature we’ll be getting since the emergence of 18:9 aspect ratio screens and dual-camera smartphones.

As expected, the OPPO F7 and Vivo V9 battle is a close fight. So, let’s break it down, shall we?
First, both devices are running in very capable chipsets. The Snapdragon 626 processor on the Vivo V9 has a higher clock speed and comes from a more reputable brand Qualcomm, while the MediaTek Helio P60 chipset on the OPPO F7 is newer and comes with a dedicated AI processor.
Both handsets also come with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. Although the OPPO F7 is available in a 6GB/128GB configuration as well, but with a higher price tag.
The OPPO F7 has more pixels with its 25-megapixel selfie camera, but the Vivo V9 easily steals the show with its 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel dual-camera setup at the back.
On the other hand, the OPPO F7 clearly won in the battery department — at least on paper. This phone has a marginally bigger 3,400mAh battery, while the latter only has 3260mAh.
In conclusion, it is hard to say which between the two is the real winner. You can say the Vivo V9 was victorious due to its dual cameras on the back. Meanwhile, others can also lean on the OPPO F7 because of its bigger battery and selfie camera.
I guess it all boils down to the pricing and personal preference of the consumer. Both are good smartphones in their own right, and people should just pick which one suits their needs.
The Vivo V9 has an official suggested retail price (SRP) of Php17,990 in the Philippines. In India, the OPPO F7 is currently priced at Rs. 21,990 or approximately Php17,800 when converted to PH currency.
