Feature phones or smartphones?

In this day and age, a lot of people can’t probably live without mobile phones in their hands. This is true, especially for young people. They rely on their gadgets for communication, school, and even work-related tasks.

But not a lot of people are fully sold to the idea of smartphones. Some people are still left out using old feature phones, as they don’t see the need for the extra features that smartphones bring to the table. The main cause? The expensive price tag.

Previously, cheap Android devices are usually underpowered and unpleasant to use. With the new Honor 7A, those smartphone predicaments are a thing of the past. For only Php7,990, it offers an all-around smartphone experience, which was only previously possible to get in devices in the sub-Php15,000 price range. But what’s so good about it? We list down some of its top features for you to find out.

5.7-inch FullView IPS 18:9 display

Throughout the years, smartphone screens have grown larger than ever. Despite being an entry-level smartphone, the Honor 7A has a huge 5.7-inch FullView display which comes with a respectable 1440 x 720 pixel resolution, resulting to a pixel density of 282.

The front is mostly dominated by the screen and thin side bezels, which gave the Honor 7A a fairly high 75.5% screen-to-body ratio.

13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel selfie camera

To go along with the current trend, Honor equipped the 7A with pixel-packed cameras. It’s composed of 13-megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors, making sure that it produces high-quality photos even for a budget smartphone.

The Honor 7A has a wide aperture, so it also has the capability of producing images with the depth-of-field effect. Shooting photos in a snap is also possible, thanks to the phase detection autofocus, which can focus on the subject very quickly.

For selfie lovers, the 8-megapixel shooter is good enough for posting photos in social media. There’s also a Beautification mode which goes up to level 10, so users can adjust it according to their liking.

Loud built-in speakers, Party Mode

Compared to other entry-level smartphones, the Honor 7A’s speaker is better at producing an immersive music environment. Supposedly, it’s capable of producing sound for up to 87dB loud.

Honor’s proprietary Histen audio technology also comes into play. There are effects currently available, which improves the overall listening experience: near effect, front effect, and wide effect. Aside from that, the Party Mode also offers great audio amplification with the help of other Honor smartphones. It is able to connect up to nine (9) different devices and sync audio together for a more robust sound and volume.

Snapdragon 430, 3GB RAM, and 32GB storage

While it’s certainly not it’s biggest selling point, the Honor 7A’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor is still a decent chipset for the price. It’s paired with an Adreno 505 GPU to handle graphics-intensive tasks and 3GB of RAM for a smooth multitasking experience.

In addition, there’s room for plenty of apps, games, and media files on the Honor 7A with its onboard storage capacity of 32GB. And in case that’s not enough, consumers can easily throw in a microSD to get more space in the dedicated third slot, in addition to the two nano SIM slots.

Face Unlock and Fingerprint Scanner

Since smartphones have the owner’s data and files, it’s important to make sure its safe from prying eyes and privacy offenders. To address any security concerns, Honor has put up two more options aside from the traditional ways: the fingerprint sensor and face unlock.

The face unlock feature uses a total of 1,024 points to identify the face of the owner and it encrypts the data in a local Trust Zone for increased security and accuracy.

In order to improve data protection, the smart notifications feature of the Honor 7A will not show notifications unless it recognized the face of the user, strengthening the shield of the owner’s personal information.
