Celebrating its 25th anniversary at this year’s Summer Game Fest, developer IO Interactive has announced major plans for the Hitman franchise. The eagerly awaited “Hitman: World of Assassination” is set to launch on mobile devices later this year.
IO Interactive highlighted during their showcase that they are bringing the Hitman trilogy, known for its stylish stealth and elimination gameplay, directly onto iOS and iPadOS, running natively to ensure smooth gaming performance.
This means fans can carry Agent 47 in their pocket and experience the thrill of international espionage anytime, anywhere. Attendees at the event were even given hands-on demos showcasing this native mobile implementation.

Expanding beyond digital platforms, IO Interactive also revealed plans for Hitman as a tabletop game. Partnering with board game publisher Mood Publishing, the physical version is expected to launch later in the year via Kickstarter crowdfunding. This new offering brings classic Hitman elements – its infamous characters, signature weapons, and famous locations – into a competitive multiplayer setting.
Up to four players can take on the role of assassins, all targeting the same target. The objective still remains simple: eliminate the designated target first to get the win. This adds an interesting social layer alongside the single-player stealth sequences that fans know and love.
Adding a spy twist itself, IO Interactive also unveiled “Elusive Target” villain Le Chiffre as part of this new mobile installment. The character, originally introduced in Casino Royale starring James Bond, will be Mikkelsen’s nemesis on the hunt. What makes him special? These Elusive Target missions are temporary and unique; you get only one chance to take him down before he disappears.
Interestingly, this connection extends beyond Hitman. IO Interactive has another big reveal coming in 2026 with their James Bond game, “007 First Light.” If players successfully complete the Le Chiffre Elusive Target mission, they might unlock exclusive assets tied to that future game — perhaps including a special suit inspired by Mikkelsen’s likeness.
