Ever wonder what it would feel like playing Monkey D. Luffy in his greatest form yet or the Luffy in 5th Gear in League of Legends (LoL)?
Ever since One Piece author Eiichiro Oda introduced the form in the manga, Gear 5 gained a strong reputation in the world of manga. Perhaps, more or less putting it in the same classification as the other iconic inhuman transformations seen in other franchises, like Dragon Ball Z’s Ultra Instinct, Bleach’s True Bankai Form, and Naruto’s Sixth Path Sage Mode.
With the ability to stretch and transform surfaces into rubbery textures, Luffy Gear 5 is unique but has an uncanny semblance to LoL’s already-existing hero, Zac. Inevitably, this makes Zac a perfect representation of Luffy in-game, only minus the looks.
One Redditor named Saurokkaiser, however, has put himself up to the task of putting the overall image of Luffy in his Gear 5 form on top of Zac, seemingly transforming the hero in the process. The result is a perfect blend of the gelatinous hero that looks and feels exactly what the skin is imitating.
As the modded champion spawns, players see a normal Luffy that subsequently shifts to his Gear 5 form. The model is even made more believable as the hero copies the quirks that make Luffy as he is—a rather carefree and lighthearted figure. This is seen via his laughing pose when in an idle state.
Getting into the more extreme, Luffy Gear 5 can also be seen exhibiting a stunt that accentuates the anime character’s eccentric persona. That is, as he detaches his eyeballs out of his face and raises them for a comedic flair.
A look into the demo of the skin mod shows a Luffy Gear 5 traversing the Summoner’s Rift while encountering opponents, like the Scuttle Crab, along the way. But one amazing twist demonstrates how the hero’s ability can be altered to suit the skin. Particularly, how the Cell Division skill makes it seem that Luffy is indeed made of flesh, instead of an elastic gel.
Anyone interested in adding a fresh twist to League of Legends could never go wrong with the Luffy Gear 5 skin mod. While it will not necessarily elevate any player magically into a top-tier player when used, it certainly adds an exciting twist to the game. The mod can be installed via Runeforge.
