After Sony first unveiled the new slim versions of the PlayStation 5, it now has revealed its official price and availability in different regions like Southeast Asia, which includes the Philippines.
For a quick recap, the new PlayStation 5 Slim comes in a blue-ray disk and digital-only versions. Compared to the first version, the new one is 18% and 24% lighter, respectively, with the overall volume reduced by 30%.

The original PS5 blue-ray version is 104mm tall x 390mm wide x 260mm thick. Now, it is shorter at 96mm, narrower at 358mm, and much thinner at 216mm. Meanwhile, the old digital-only version is at 92mm x 390mm x 260mm while the trimmed version is now at 80mm x 358mm x 216mm.
Instead of two, they now have four removable panels. “For what?” you might ask: that’s because Sony is now also selling the blue-ray disc drive as an accessory. Meaning, you can replace the drive that comes to your PS5 if it gets broken, or upgrade the digital-only version if you want to. The drive only works with the slim versions.
Another new inclusion is the included stand so it sits in your setup horizontally. Alternatively, Sony is selling a special stand so you can prop it standing up, vertically.
Other than the changes in the outer shell, and the upgrade to a full 1TB storage, everything stays the same. They are still powered by an AMD Ryzen Zen 2 processor, RDNA 2 GPU with ray tracing acceleration, and support for 4K 120Hz or 8K TVs.
The Sony PlayStation 5 Slim with blue-ray disk drive has an SRP of Php30,790. Sadly, of all SEA markets, Sony didn’t reveal the price for the digital-only version in the Philippines and Vietnam.
Meanwhile, the price for the horizontal stand retails is Php1,690. As per Sony, the new version will be available in the U.S. in November and in other markets in the coming months. The old model will continue to be available until existing stocks run out.
