Sega-Mega-Drive-Mini-official

Good news for the classic gaming console fans out there. Sega announced the arrival of Mega Drive Mini in Japan, in accordance to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the original console.

The news popped out from Sega Fes 2018, an event for announcements and celebrations for the company’s history. Even though thorough details such as release date and size are still limited, it will surely be packed with pre-loaded games.

The original Sega Mega Drive, or known as Genesis in North America, was released in Japan in 1988 and featured all-time favorite games such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star IV, and Streets of Rage II.

According to the tweet released by the official AtGames account, they will be in charge of releasing Mega Drive Mini. However, the tweet was deleted later on. It can be recalled that AtGames, a licensed manufacturer of retro Sega hardware, also buoyed Sega Genesis Flashback console, but was received unsatisfactorily.

Unfortunately, there is no word about having a North American, nor a European version of the said mini console.
