A new game that’s reminiscent of the old but gold Command & Conquer games is headed to PC. Announced by developers 3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks, to be published by THQ Nordic, Tempest Rising is a real-time strategy game that features the classic gameplay of base building and resource management.

Set in an alternate version of Earth, Tempest Rising features three playable factions fighting for domination in the wake of a nuclear war. Players must devise a plan of action to eliminate opponents by factoring into account the various points of interest across the game map, including neutral structures and characters, and optimizing the use of resources to improve their economy and combat strength.

Both single-player and multiplayer modes are available.

Tempest Rising is reintroducing classic RTS action that became popular in the 1990s and early 2000s with titles such as C&C: Red Alert and its sequel, as well as the Age of Empires, StarCraft, and Warcraft series. But the game is adding its own take on the genre by mixing combat action with “modern production and performance.”

You can watch a preview of the gameplay and features via the announcement trailer, which revealed the release date of Tempest Rising to be in the year 2023. Check out the official page on Steam here.
